Primus inter Pares

Primus inter Pares (from the Latin, "first among equals") is a collection of bits and baubles, an assorted mixture of the refined and the rough, and an otherwise general attempt at getting make into the habit of creating something every day.

Part of what makes the Oscars so much fun every year are the unexpected moments that no one saw coming. One of these this year was when actors Javier Bardem and Josh Brolin came out on stage to present the Oscars for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Original Screenplay. Viewers saw the two men walk out onto stage where they engaged in an apparently impromptu dance, though viewers only saw a flash of that before the camera jumped to an extended shot of Penelope Cruz. Thanks to AfterElton.com reader Jose Manuel, we now also know that in addition to dancing, the two men exchanged a kiss which you can see here. So why the cut away? On one hand, it seems unlikely that ABC would find a kiss between Bardem and Brolin to be something needing to be censored. After all, back in 2006, the Oscar telecast included a Brokeback Mountain spoof featuring Jon Stewart and George Clooney in bed. On the other hand, the cutaway to Cruz seemed awkward and clearly lasted until the two men had stopped dancing. Frankly, it’s hard not to wonder if it might not have something to do with the Adam Lambert imbroglio from the American Music Awards. AfterElton.com has reached out to ABC for a comment and will post the network’s reply when we receive it.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ASL;DKJF I KNEW I SAW SOMETHING
EVERYONE THOUGHT I WAS IMAGINING THINGS (I don’t blame them, but still)
On a much more serious note, if that cut to Penélope was indeed an intentional attempt to censor this— really, ABC? R E A L L Y. Not fucking cool.

ABC, kindly engage in fornication with yourself. Sans lubricant.

Slightly unrelated…  but I love it when people are secure enough in themselves to engage in this sort of behavior without fear of some fucked up kind of backlash.  People everywhere should do this.
…then again, I’ve been in a dancing mood for about a week now.  I need people that I can spontaneously dance with!
